Sustainable tourism was the theme of the Asia-Europe Meeting’s
(ASEM) tourism forum held this September.
Conservation of environment and culture, rural development and poverty
reduction were all identified as measures to help develop and maintain
sustainable tourism. Some 300 delegates including senior tourism officials
from member countries and leading experts in sustainable tourism attended
September’s forum which was held in Hanoi.
Established in 1997 the ASEM aims to address political, economical
and cultural issues and strengthen relations between the two regions.
