Snowdonia awards its eco-friendly This
year’s winners of the Green Snowdonia Tourism Awards have been
announced.With a prize fund totalling £2,000 the ceremony was held to reward and recognise businesses that are taking steps to reduce their impact on the environment. Award-organisers the Green Snowdonia Project, which is a branch of the Snowdonia Society, explained: “The winning businesses demonstrate that Snowdonia can offer high quality accommodation, superb, locally produced food, unique tourist attractions and a fascinating introduction to its culture and language - all with minimal cost to the environment.” The winners, which included residential centre Trigonos, bed and breakfast Y Goeden Eirin and Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park, were presented their awards by Caerwyn Roberts, Chairman of the Snowdonia National Park Authority. The Green Snowdonia Project is active in educating both visitors and businesses about sustainable tourism and, in conjunction with the Snowdonia Society, operates conservation volunteering schemes.
