We currently have 3 internships available, for people able to work at least 2 days a week for a minimum of 6 months. Please note that these are unpaid positions.

1. Responsible travel news researcher
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for an intern to work on our business to business news website responsibletravelnews.com. The site has been created as a place where all of us involved in tourism, whether industry, media or education, who care passionately about travel, conservation and sustainable development can come together to ask questions and get answers, have a rant or rave, and make contact with others in the industry who may have valuable experiences to share.

The role involves research, writing, editing and database development. Ideally we are looking for someone with experience of HTML / Dreamweaver as this is our main tool for updating the site. An interest in responsible tourism and ethical business is very important. The right person would preferably be based in or around Brighton and available to work at the office, as well as from home. 2. Responsible travel news blogger
We require an intern to help develop discussion and awareness of responsibletravelnews.com on blogs and forums in order to drive traffic to the site. 3. Responsible travel community intern
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for an intern to work on IKnowAGreatPlace.com, our new community site which is fully integrated into responsibletravel.com. The site offers unique local travel advice on great places from the real experts: the locals that live there or travellers who have been there before.

The role involves research, writing, editing, admin, forum moderation and e-marketing, and an interest in responsible tourism is important. The right person would preferably be based in or around Brighton and available to work at the office, as well as from home. Part-time administrator - The Dolphin Connection / dolphinswims

We are a specialist holiday company taking individuals and groups to swim with wild dolphins and whale watching worldwide. We are looking for a part time administrator and occasional PA to work some time in the office in Brighton, UK and some time from home - mainly to process bookings and payments, run the office.

There are some great perks with this job to the right candidate and you will certainly be able to offer creative ideas. Our commitment to sustainable tourism (especially in relation to Marine conservation), research and education are a growing aspect of our work. The company has been established 14 years and has grown rapidly in the last 6 months due to taking over a second dolphin swim business in Egypt the Red Sea

Attributes we are looking for:

You must be precise and have a 'detail friendly' brain.... be very organised and have some experience in the holiday industry.
Candidates should have a love of adventure and travel with some experience in booking procedures in the travel and tourism industry. We are currently developing on line systems for processing bookings so your IT skills need to be sufficient to work basic office management.
A great telephone style with enthusiasm and confidence for some of the direct contact with potential clients will help (although this will not be your responsibility)
Some basic book keeping skills and neat orderly methods in the office welcome.
Ability to follow instructions and also offering innovative ideas as to the continued development of the business helpful.

Managing Member - Shergarh Tented Camp

We have a position for a friendly, motivated and enthusiastic person to manage the day-to-day running and administration of a jungle camp adjoining one of India's finest tiger reserves. For more info/ images about the camp go to www.shergarh.com.

The candidate must display:

Good organisational ability

Self-motivation, attentiveness, responsibility and courtesy

Excellent communication and listening skills

Keen interest in wildlife and conservation

Good level of fitness

Duties extend across three main areas: guest relations, camp operations and wildlife-related activities. Living out in the wild running a tiger camp definitely lives up to the romantic image it portrays, but it comes with a lot of hard work. The position we are offering commences early October 2010 for six months. During this period, camp is open every day and we are essentially permanently 'on-call', but this comes with plenty of natural breaks.

The position is voluntary, and the selected candidate will be retained on a token stipend. The package will also include a contribution towards travel costs; international flights, visa and insurance fees. All board, lodging and internal travel is included and a commission package is available for any bookings brought directly through the candidate. (Full job description as PDF.) Wilderness and Wildlife Travel Consultant - Aqua-Firma

Aqua-Firma is looking for a full time Wilderness and Wildlife Travel Consultant to join us in our offices in Charlestown, Cornwall. Previous travel experience in relevant countries is important, such as South America, East Africa, South East Asia and the Polar regions. You will also need to have a keen interest in responsible travel, wilderness and natural history and an aptitude for sales, administration and excellent client liaison which is essential when creating tailor made experiences for clients. The role will also incorporate opportunities to develop the experiences we offer and become involved in marketing and PR. Experience in activities which include sailing, diving, canoeing and conservation will be of great advantage.

The personal qualities we need are enthusiasm, excellent written and organisational skills and an eye for detail. Experience with Word and email management is important, as is good telephone, written and face to face communication skills. Prior knowledge of the travel industry is not essential.

Location: You will be based in our offices which overlook one of the most inspirational maritime sites in Britain. Charlestown harbour is a World Heritage Site kept in near impeccable Cornish style with stunning beaches either side of the harbour and dramatic cliff coastlines in the direction of Mevagissey and Fowey in view across St Austell Bay. Fowey and St Austell are nearby, Truro lies 25 minutes to the west, Plymouth is about an hour away and Newquay is 1/2 hour away on the opposite coast. The Eden Project is a mere 3 miles away which itself lies close to some of the best countryside in mid-Cornwall.
